Founded by Reinhard and Sonja Ernst Foundation and located in Wiesbaden, the Reinhard Ernst Museum (mre) is one of the few museums in the world dedicated exclusively to abstract art and thus considered a true international hub of abstractism.

On display are European, American and Japanese masterpieces, including some never presented to the public, and created by some of the most important artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Collected by Reinhard and Sonja Ernst, the exhibited collections reveal the epochal changes in art history from the post-war era to the current day, brought together within an institution that sets architectural and technological standards for complexity and quality of execution.

This is the only museum project in Europe designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki. The architectural configuration and artistic design of the museum represent a true installation combining architecture, painting, glass art and sculpture.
